The difference is quite dramatic.ĭNG files are being used extensively, and with the Leica M9/M240 all these RAW files were DNG format. Smitty great examples !! If this was a lens performance comparison, you would not even consider the more blurry/less sharp version of the lens. Thanks for the review, I think, I'm falling in love with On1. That sure is some beautiful foliage there At normal viewing it is hardly noticable, but Lr CC does need to come up to speed. I love using Lr CC, but why is that both IXT and Photo Ninja can demosaic XTrans RAW files, while Lr CC still has issues. The variation in cropping is due to the differences in lens corrections. At 200% it is clear that Lr CC does have almost like nodules/worm like structure whereas both IXT default and PN do not and very typical of 200% crops. I have added 200% crops with IXT default, Photo Ninja and Lr CC trying to maintain the same sharpness and clarity. There is a definitive difference in the RAW converters, and often the weaknesses do not really shot up until you view at 200% trying the maintain the "same" apparent sharpness and clarity across the different RAW converters.

Glad to see that Iridient is now available to the Windows using community and that people are really noticing the results A bit shocked C1 is still lagging so far behind though.

I did a quick comparison with Iridient X Transformer, Lightroom, C1 Pro 10 And On1 PhotoRAW in my X-T2 review. I understand the frustration with AMD machines and I hope this will be addressed soon The other aspect is the ongoing development time for IXT is simplified, and we will see the updates much quicker. With IXT it is in essence a RAW converter plugin when needed, and you still have all the benefits of your normal workflow. I don't mind the IXT format as it means you can continue using Lr CC/PS or C1Pro as your base programs.

I'm hopping that this Windows based converter will grow into a full version, same as the Mac version. Sunrise from Portland by Jacob Carroll, on Flickr Steel Wool Spinning by Jacob Carroll, on Flickr The extra detail I'm getting is incredible.

I go through the hassle because I feel it is worth it. I am keeping my fingers crossed it will be made to work on the AMD machines soon. My main desktop machine is an AMD chip and won't run Iridient Transformer so I have to use my Intel powered laptop to convert, then transfer, then edit.

I've been using it for nearly all my photos which is a huge extra step for me. Raytracer.I'll have to shoot my test shots again and see if I can come to similar conclusions because I don't shoot many portraits or people-photography any more so I might need to look at a change. Well.I Rediscovered one damned thing that was mentioned before! Capture One won't work with Compressed Raw files from Fuji. Capture 10 has less sharpness but the workflow to adjust color tone is so much easier than lightroom.ĭon't be aggressive in luminous noise reduction with either of them, otherwise you'll see the watercolor artifact of the Fuji sensor. Iridient x-transformer + lightroom gets sharper output and more neutral color especially for landscape. I've been using PhaseOne Capture since it came out and I just hadn't see anything that was shockingly better expecially for the workflow. I'm going to do a basic test tonight and post if anyone is interested.? Has anyone done a comparison between PhaseOne Capture 10 & Iridient? Going through old X-E1 files now, really happy with the improvements. Really enjoying IXT, it definitely addresses one of the biggest issues of Fuji at this point. I am keeping both for now, as I only convert the RAF files I need So is anyone keeping the RAF files after converting them to DNG? I don't really see a big reason to keep the RAF files.

It keeps the software development and updates much simpler and more cost effective. Brian was smart in not developing a full featured Iridient Developer, instead just the RAW DNG converter which still has all the benefits of using Lr CC/PS. The IXT is a better solution, particularly if you using Lr CC/PS.

We have been waiting a long time for the Iridient converter for Windows. That may be an important difference between the transformer and developer (which I have, and embeds a camera profile when importing into LR). IXT is much better in the respect of lens corrections, so I always leave this on too. The IXT RAW converted file has all the Fuji film simulations as normal. I've been applying the simulation to the tiff/dng in LR after doing the demosaicing/sharpening in IXT.
